Russell Brunson - Bonus Seminar Thursday night

To recap: We are on the Thursday night bonus session of the Affiliate Incubator Seminar, 2007

Russell Brunson is one the co-sponsors of this event. If you’re not familiar with him, check out Dot Com Secrets. He’s become quite a big name in internet marketing and with good reason. Russell Brunson wrestling

Here’s a photo of him wrestling during college.

During this session, he went through the whole process of how he did his sales funnel for Dot Com Secrets in what he called The Lifestyle of the Lead.

Key points to remember:

A business is not a product.

How much value are you providing to your customer?

We were informed that this presentation would not be included in the DVD of the affiliate marketing seminar and was a bonus for attendees only.

So why is it important to view everyone’s promotion methods?
Because everyone has a slightly different twist on how they sell and valuable information can be gathered from each one. All the basics remain the same:

  • Have a plan
  • Make it a business
  • Build a list
  • Provide value

I will tell you this - Russell has an incredible affiliate program with more training than I’ve ever seen - anywhere. If you are interested in learning about promoting products, you should definitely check out what he’s doing — Russell’s Affiliate Program. You’ll also be able to see his other products.

Jermaine Griggs - Thursday Afternoon Speaker

To update: We are on Thursday afternoon (first day) of the Affiliate Incubator seminar.

Believe it or not, Jermaine Griggs was the last minute replacement for Tellman Knudson.

If you are already into Internet Marketing, you’ve probably heard of him. Today is the day of his big launch, Nitty Gritty Marketing.

But more important than that, was his beginning in internet marketing and what he’s done with it. He’s made millions from the smallest niche - learning to play piano gospel music by ear. I mean, really! If he can make that kind of money in that tiny niche, then surely one of my niches can do just as well!

If you haven’t seen his site yet, check out www.hearandplay.com.

He was, by far, the most energetic and inspirational speaker we’ve had. Just a real bundle of energy! Plus, he gave us the whole process of how his sales funnel works from beginning to end. And of course there were plenty of great ideas and resources.

He has a very interesting secondary opt-in form that personalizes the customer’s choices even more and is then filtered back into the autoresponder series. I’m not sure if it would work for all niches, but it’s an ingenious concept.

He reminded me of how great the Google Website Optimizer is. I had totally forgotten about it. The website optimizer is a free testing and tracking tool that’s part of your Google adwords account. At the time when it first came out, I didn’t think I needed it, but of course, I should have been using it all along.

He’s now developed a pretty comprehensive internet marketing course teaching all of his skills and tactics he’s developed. I think the first month is some silly price of $2.97 for a limited time. I’d certainly check out the package for that price. He’s got some very innovative ideas. Nitty Gritty Marketing.

There was a two hour break for dinner. Unfortunately, I didn’t do much networking as I wanted to work on my notes for this blog, so I just grabbed some fast food and wrote for a while.

One of the attendees I met was Pam Hoffman - (you may have seen some of her comments) who runs a new internet marketing seminar listing service.
If you’re looking to see what seminars are available near you (or even online - without leaving your home), check out her site at: http://seminarlist.blogspot.com

Rick Raddatz - Part 1, Thursday Afternoon

To update: We are on the Thursday afternoon session of the Affiliate Incubator Seminar, Oct. 2007

Truth be told, I was a few minutes late from lunch. Not my fault, poor service at the restaurant. Rick Raddatz was already speaking. If you’re not familar with him, you might be familar with with his products. Instant Audio, Instant Video Generator and others.

When we got into the seminar, Rick was talking about the philosophy, strategies and tactics of business. A few key points made during his presentation were:

Do a few things well
Never underestimate the power of a distraction
Make every decision by asking: Will this increase the asset value of my business?

What was interesting was that he was the second presenter in the same day to recommend the book “Influence - The Power of Persuation” by Robert Chaldini. Definitely on my reading list now.

Anik Singal Presents…

To Update, we’re still covering the Thursday morning presentations of the Affiliate Incubator Seminar.

If you haven’t heard of Anik Singal, you may have been living under a rock, so let me update you:

Anik started and runs the Affiliate Classroom, one of most comprehensive training courses for affiliate marketers. I was an early member of his course and built my second site from the advice I learned there. There’s a great community there also, everyone is very willing to help the newbie. If you haven’t checked out the Affiliate Classroom and could use some step-by-step instruction, go sign up for his 14 day trial.

He also publishes the Affiliate Magazine, a great resource every month for affiliate marketers. I still read that. Go sign up for that too. It’s free.

Okay, enough gushing. I guess you could tell I was looking forward to his presentation. It’s so much fun to actually see these people in person!

Anik started out telling a little about his life story and also how he got into internet marketing. It was actually an amusing story. He had this great idea for an e-book, but didn’t do the right kind of market research before writing it. Turns out his target market (college students) weren’t exactly buyers of his great idea. The lesson learned: A good idea is not necessarily a good business. Later in the presentation, he shared what he finally did to get some money out of that first failed site — and it wasn’t selling more e-books.

He also covered the various types of websites and his suggestions for which way to go for the beginner. (Which, of course, is NOT the way I went)
If you’re still just putting up a newletter sign up(even with a pop-up) on your big content site, you may want to re-think that. There are better ways to get people to opt-in.

And he also shared some great tips on monetizing which, shoot, I can’t share with you.

Hey, I’m sure there will be video DVD of this seminar being sold….I’ll let you know as soon as it’s available!

Lunch break- the 3 winners (and one other new friend I invited), had lunch with Jim Morris of NicheBot where we discussed our businesses and ideas.

While we were there, Mike Liebner from Article Underground stopped by and shared some of his stories about internet marketing and the early days.

More later…
